Learn about accounting, a print-based elective for grades 9-12 available from our online academy. It covers bookkeeping, debits and credits, posting, and worksheets.
Help teach money management skills! Accounting is a comprehensive, two-semester elective that gives students a general overview of accounting fundamentals. Topics in the first semester of this online academy include accounting terms and the nature of bookkeeping, the accounting equation, debits and credits, journalizing and posting transactions, and preparing worksheets and trail balances.
In the second semester, lessons continue with topics on proprietorship statements, owner’s equity and balance sheets, adjusting and closing entries, payroll records and deductions, and employer taxes and reports. This course from our online academy for grades 9-12 concludes with a section on applying skills to a business simulations situation. This course contains quizzes and tests to evaluate progress and student mastery.
Additional Details
Optional exercises are included for extra credit at the end of several units. These optional sections do not need to be submitted unless a student wants to receive extra credit toward his or her test score.
