This semester-long course introduces students to the complicated world of commercial transportation. Students undertake an overview of the fields of transportation, distribution, and logistics, learning the differences between the fields and the primary services provided in each.
Throughout the course, students learn how warehousing, inventory, and other associated businesses impact the economy, which includes the advantages and disadvantages of automation on employment. Students also learn about the history of transportation including. In addition, students examine the fields that serve to support and manage transportation systems. Lastly, the role of technology and technological development on transportation-related businesses is addressed.
