Throughout the course, students read a range of classic and contemporary literary texts including Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House, George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis. In addition to reading a wide range of literary texts, students read and analyze complex informational and argumentative texts including Sonia Sotomayor’s “A Latina Judge’s Voice,” Niccolò Machiavelli’s The Prince, and the contemporary informational text Sugar Changed the World: A Story of Magic, Spice, Slavery, Freedom, and Science.
7th Grade Bible
Seventh grade Bible continues to build students’ knowledge of Christian living and the life of Christ. Study topics in this online academy course include the nature of worship, mankind and the fall of man, and God’s attributes of mercy, grace, and love. Encouraging lessons are filled with color, learning activities, Bible verse memorization, and important vocabulary words.
Utilizing the King James Version, this online academy Bible course covers additional subjects such as fulfilled prophesies of Christ, new life in Christ, the Psalms, and the life of Christ. In-depth lessons take a look at the early life of Christ, His ministry in Galilee, Jesus’ sufferings and crucifixion, and Jesus’ resurrection and ascension. Course units contain quizzes and tests to evaluate progress and student mastery.
English I
Students read a range of classic texts including Homer’s The Odyssey, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game.” They also study short but complex texts, including influential speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan. Contemporary texts by Richard Preston, Julia Alvarez, and Maya Angelou round out the course.
Basic English Language Arts
Refresh English concepts with Basic English! This remedial course continues to build on the sequential development and integration of communication skills in four major areas, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Preparing high schoolers for upper-level English courses, this academy course includes reinforcement practices to build comprehension skills. Students build grammar by studying sentence structure, parts of speech, etymology, and word structure.
Additional lessons include recognizing text meaning and an introduction to Old and Middle English literature. Analyzing forms of writing and spelling words are located throughout this course. Projects include writing business letters, informal essays, and basic literature analysis. Oral reports, listening comprehension, and note taking skills are also briefly discussed in this course from our online academy. Each unit of the course from our online academy contains quizzes and tests to evaluate progress and student mastery.
Additional Details
Students can earn an elective credit by taking Basic English, but since it is not a college preparatory course, it does not count toward the English requirement of the college prep track.

They apply their understanding of inverse operations to solve multistep equations and inequalities. The course concludes with a geometric analysis of angle relationships, area, and volume of both two- and three-dimensional figures.
7th Grade Language Arts
Explicit modeling and ample opportunities for practice help students sharpen their vocabulary, grammar, and listening skills. Students also respond routinely to texts they have read. In extensive, process-based writing lessons, students write topical essays in narrative, informative, analytical, and argumentative formats. Utilizing the King James Version, this Bible course covers a variety of biblical material to assist in the development of practical Christian living
