Vietnam Era is a high school elective that helps students gain an in-depth look at the country of Vietnam and the factors that led to the Vietnam War and the United States' involvement in the war. Topics in this course from our online academy include the history of Vietnam through colonization and the World Wars, the rise of nationalism, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, Vietnam soldiers and Vietcong tunnels, the American effort, and the antiwar movement.
Lessons examine President Johnson and President Nixon’s involvement in war policy, the invasion of Cambodia, secret diplomacy tactics, and the end of the war. The effects of the Vietnam War, Nixon and Watergate, prisoners of war, war’s aftermath on veterans, and U.S.-Vietnam relations today are also studied. Students explore how events of the war affected United States’ politics, foreign policy, and society. Each unit of the course from our online academy contains quizzes and a test to evaluate progress and student mastery. Projects are included.
