A mathematics teacher at Calvert Academy, Dr. Andre Lawe has a passion for teaching that shows in his reaction to the accomplishments of his students.
“I am really passionate about getting to know my students and helping them to achieve their personal and academic goals,” he said. “There is something extremely rewarding when you help a student to understand a difficult math concept.”
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Lawe said he spent his childhood learning how to navigate a big city but also making lasting friendships.

Favorites: In my free time, I love to cook and I love listening to music (all genres) but Gospel tends to be my favorite. My favorite food is Asian cuisine.
Three words to describe himself: Empathetic, committed, and funny
Person he’d most like to meet: President Obama. He is such an inspiration to me, and he is a reminder that if you work hard and set goals, you can accomplish anything.
Bucket list item: I have always wanted to sky dive, but I am not sure I have the courage to try.
Unknown gem: I love to sing but I am a terrible singer.
