MORE ABOUT MRS. DURKEE
Favorites: My favorite foods include seafood and key lime pie.
Three words to describe herself: Passionate, curious, and encouraging
Alternative career choice: If I were to pursue a different career, it would be a weather forecaster since I love watching thunderstorms.
Most treasured possession: My children
Bucket list item: I want to visit Spain.
Person she’d most like to meet: I want to meet Angela Merkel, the current chancellor of Germany, and listen to her explain her feelings about the inclusion of refugees into German society. She took on a leadership role in Europe after a tremendous refugee crisis. In addition, her economic policies allowed the German economy to remain strong despite the worldwide economic slowdown. Her collaborative leadership helped unite Germany, and I am interested in her passion for leading a country.
Unknown gem: I lived in Germany for seven years.
