Position
Science Teacher
Degrees
A science teacher at Calvert Academy, Ronald Hicks has a decade of experience in education, including teaching online courses in biology, human anatomy and physiology, botany, zoology, and physical science. In addition to his teaching at Calvert, he serves in the role as Assistant Coordinator of Undergraduate Student Success in conjunction with the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Jackson State University. As a teacher, he enjoys creating an engaging and thought-provoking learning experience for his students.
“The most enjoyable aspect of my workday is any opportunity where I am able to pour into my students,” he said. “Whether through content instruction or academic counsel, I thrive in an environment where I make deposits into the lives I touch. I am the most fulfilled in my role when I see the seed of success in a student grow into what I saw they had the potential to become. That’s a priceless reward for me.”
Born and raised in a musical family of accomplished stage performers in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, Hicks studied music, as well as biology in undergraduate school. Although he admits that he can be a bit of a shy individual, he won’t hesitate to give you the shirt off his back if you need it.
