An English teacher for middle and high school students at Calvert Academy, Chris Robison believes teaching is about making a difference in the lives of his students.
“I feel most fulfilled when students who have been unmotivated, or otherwise at-risk, make a turnaround and start making solid progress,” he said.
Throughout his childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area and Tucson, Arizona, he is grateful to have grown up in a home with many interesting discussions. He also benefited from attending an inter-disciplinary college where students were able to create their own courses. That allowed him to receive college credit for a 9-month bicycle tour around the world in 1992.
“Those experiences and subsequent trips to beautiful and amazing places have given me a level of expertise in cultural awareness, social studies, and global perspectives, among other subjects,” he said.
Today, he is blessed to have a wife and two daughters. In addition to time with his family, he enjoys his hobby of playing guitar and working with sound recording.
