A middle school and high school science teacher, Yolanda Anderson has been a chemistry researcher and is a published author on the Nanosciences. She has also worked with NASA to provide educational resources to science teachers. At Calvert Academy, she enjoys working directly with students one on one in the virtual classroom.
“The virtual class provides an opportunity for me to get to know my students,” she said. “I felt the most fulfilled by this when I taught a student from overseas, and we actually went over a virtual lab in real time where I could walk him through the procedures.”
Born in Mississippi, her childhood included a pet iguana and camping excursions with her cousins. Today, she tries to enjoy life to the fullest with her family.
“Do not sit still,” she said. “Get up and do life! Experiences are much more fulfilling than anything else you can have.”
